Adaptive Cruise Control Problem

Adaptive Cruise Control keeps a set gap to the car ahead using the front radar together with the windshield camera. When “Adaptive Cruise Control Problem” shows up together with road departure mitigation system problem, collision mitigation system problem, auto high-beam problem and lane keeping assist problem warnings, the camera itself has usually failed — and we repair it by mail.

Dash message: Adaptive Cruise Control Problem

Just this one message?

On its own, this message can also come from the radar behind the front emblem being blocked by snow, mud or ice.

If it comes back on a clean, dry day — and the other driver-assist warnings come with it — it's the camera.

All five at once means the camera

These five messages cycle on the dash together, usually with the ACC and LKAS indicators and the brake system light. A scan tool reads U3000-49, the camera reporting an internal failure. Low battery voltage can set the same code, so have the battery and the camera's connector checked first.

Questions

Does “Adaptive Cruise Control Problem” always mean the camera has failed?

On its own, this message can also come from the radar behind the front emblem being blocked by snow, mud or ice. When all five driver-assist messages appear together and stay, and a scan shows U3000-49, the camera is the likely cause.

What stops working while the adaptive cruise warning is on?

Every driver-assist feature that uses the camera stays off until it's fixed: lane keeping, adaptive cruise, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation and auto high-beam. If the brake system light is on too, have the brakes checked rather than assume it's the camera.

How do I know it's the camera?

Several driver-assist warnings appearing together, plus code U3000-49 on a scan, points at the camera. The same code can also be set by low battery voltage or a poor power or ground connection, so check the battery and the camera's connector first.

What happens while my camera is out?

The driver-assist features are already switched off by the fault, and they stay off until the camera is back in. You get tracking in both directions and a status page, so you always know where your camera is.

Can my glass shop or mechanic help?

Yes. Any glass or repair shop can remove the camera and reinstall it afterwards. If you don't have one, tick the box on the order form and we'll help you find one near you.

What if it can't be repaired?

You get a full refund and we ship your camera back at no charge.

Why not just buy a used camera?

A used camera off eBay often sells for $500 or more, and it's the same age as yours, untested, and sold as-is. We repair the camera already matched to your car.
